Today's tip - boredom

Boredom can transform a dog into the "dog from hell", few practical tips to avoid boredom and trashing your house.

A dog needs activity, both physical and mental, as owner failing to keep your dog's mind occupied and at least a moderate level of fitness means owning a bored dog. Especially when young bored dogs tend to trash your house. They can play with your trashcan just for fun, this does not mean they will not eat something that seems to be appealing but this was not the primary target, was just a "spoil of war". They will chew whatever they find attractive even if they have their toys they will still prefer your shoes. If there is a dog basket or similar you will notice they will start reshaping it. Some more extreme dogs will find your desk or even the door a good object to start with.

What to do? First of all they need activity and as long as you are there to keep them active and happy. Sometimes they trash your house just because you left them alone and is a learning curve when they need to learn that they will remain alone but you will return. A dog that is not already bored in your presence will probably behave when you are not at home, because he can sleep or do whatever things he likes like chew a bone or play with a toy.
Teach them to use those toys where they have to work for a treat, is a good time consumer while you are away and they will discover new ways to obtain their treat and this will be fun and rewarding.
When you are at home don't ignore them, give them tasks suited to their breed and brains.
When you are outside play with them, don't just walk and ignore them while you talk with other humans or pick your nose. Play with them, give them tasks, repeat the basic training like sit, stay, wait, heel and whatever you want.
Groom them, grooming helps dog-human relationship to bound and offers them attention.

Short list, you can add whatever you would like but the above are the basics.

Have fun with your dog!
